Target Audience:
QA practitioners, project managers, software managers, software developers, and anyone interested in process improvement and assessment
Level:
Just starting to Advanced
What will you learn : - Understand how Agile software techniques can be applied to process development efforts
- Gain an overview of the process development life cycle
- Methods to plan, design, develop and manage the rollout of new processes to the organization, some derived from various software design and development techniques
- Lessons learned from a real-world example
Description:
This presentation presents techniques borrowed from the Agile and software development world to both design processes and to reduce the overall time to achieve institutionalization of new processes. The topics to be covered are a) applying Agile methods to process improvement, b) applying software development techniques to process development, c) what additional gains can be had via technology improvements, f) leveraging the internet and IEEE standards to speed process development, g) employing the continuous representation of the CMMI model, h) issues associated with QA, and i) issues associated with resistance, and j) effective process rollout management strategies.

Prerequisites:
Experience with process or software development and implementation is a plus. Knowledge of the CMMI model is not required, although an overview of its components would be helpful. This presentation is general in nature and only briefly touches on the possible applications to a CMMI-based implementation. The real world example is a CMMI implementation example; however, the terms will be explained in the course of the presentation.
